Outback Guidance Automate boom & planter controller
The Outback AutoMate™ is an automatic boom shutoff product that works directly with all Outback Guidance® products and is one of the industry’s quickest returns on investment.
The AutoMate allows you to manage up to 10 different sections of your boom and multiple planter sections. This automation results in drastic savings associated with application costs. The system recognizes both pre-defined applied zones and/or previous coverage areas. The AutoMate is designed for simple, hands-free operation. Simply set-up the unit and the system will automatically turn on and off sections when covering areas already applied. The system will also turn sections back on automatically on unapplied sections, eliminating skips.
Like all Outback products, the AutoMate is engineered to expand with your growing GPS guidance needs.
  • Comes with Raven cable

FAQ: Outback AutoMate
Q. My AutoMate displays: “No DGPS” on the screen. What is wrong? A: Make sure on your S-Lite, S2, or S3 the NMEA baud rate is set to 19200 and the GGA is set to 5Hz, and the VTG is set at 5Hz.
Q. My My AutoMate will not control the booms. What is wrong? A: Check the boom switches on the rate controller and make sure they are set to off. Verify the master switch is set to on.
Q. My sprayer is leaving skips/overlaps when I EXIT a previously sprayed area. A: You need to re-calibrate On Look Ahead times to match the speed at which you are applying. If you are leaving a skip exiting a previously applied area, that means your booms are turning on too late. Therefore, you want to increase your On Look Ahead time so that the booms will turn on sooner. If you are overlapping while exiting a previously sprayed area, that means your booms are turning on too soon. Therefore, you want to decrease your On Look Ahead time so that the boom will turn on later.
Q. My sprayer is leaving skips/overlaps when I ENTER a previously sprayed area. A: You need to re-calibrate Off Look Ahead times to match the speed at which you are applying. If you are leaving a skip while entering a previously sprayed area, that means your booms are turning off too early. Therefore, you want to decrease the Off Look Ahead time so that the boom will turn off later. If you are overlapping while entering a previously sprayed area, that means your booms are turning off too late. There fore, you want to increase the Off Look Ahead time so that the boom will turn off sooner.
Q. My sprayer is not shutting off at all when I enter a previously sprayed area. A: You need to double check your switches to be sure the individual boom switches are OFF, and the Master switch is set to ON. If the booms are shutting off at random after starting a new job, be sure that the Auto Locate feature is ON and Control All Booms is set to YES.
Q. My sprayer is shutting off and on at random points in the field. A: Was a new job created prior to starting this field. If not, start a new job. Verify auto locate is on and control all booms is set to yes. Finally, verify cable connections are correct by running a test cycle boom function. If the problem continues call Customer Service.
Q. I cannot enter or change the initial settings on AutoMate. A: Turn the power to the AutoMate off and then turn it back on. Verify that the Lockout setting is set to OFF.
